Tōrō Nagashi – Floating Lantern Festival (Friday, 7 PM – 8 PM)

As the sun sets and darkness falls, visitors are invited to experience the custom of Tōrō Nagashi, a poignant Japanese tradition in which candle-lit lanterns are set afloat on water, accompanied by prayers for peace and remembrance of those who have passed. This cultural and spiritual practice fosters a profound sense of connection between the living and their departed loved ones.

The term “tōrō” refers to a lantern, while “nagashi” means flowing or floating. Tōrō Nagashi is often associated with Obon, a Japanese Buddhist custom honoring the spirits of ancestors, as well as with other cultural and religious observances.

Purchase a floating lantern at the entrance and release it onto Yume’s sparkling koi pond to take part in this ancient and meaningful Japanese tradition. Before launching their lanterns, participants may write personal messages, wishes, or prayers upon them.

As the lanterns drift slowly across the water, their gentle procession creates a serene and contemplative sight—an evening of reflection, remembrance, and peace.
