Fiesta de los Animales

A collection of folk-art animal sculptures, Fiesta de los Animales is a celebration of the imagery and symbolism from indigenous Mexican cultures. Constructed of alabaster powder and resin, each vibrant, monumental sculpture showcases a particular region and culture. From the pre-Hispanic clay figures from Colima, to the petatillo clay pottery and burnished earthenware of Jalisco, Purépecha ceramics from Michoacán, lacquered gourds from Guerrero, and a chango mezcalero (mezcal monkey) made of black clay from Oaxaca.
