Seed Starting 101

Learn how easy and inexpensive it is to grow plants from seeds and how to care for them at every stage of growth. Learn why growing from seed is the most eco-friendly and sustainable way to grow and how to choose and save seeds for your gardens. Participants will get to plant and take home their own seed tray with instructions to care for their seedlings at home.

Nicci Radhe


Nicci Radhe is a Tucson-based photographer, horticulturist, and multidisciplinary artist whose work is deeply rooted in community, art, and the Sonoran Desert landscape. Nicci is also the founder of Horny Toad Horticulture, an organic small-scale urban seed farm located near Sentinel Peak in Tucson. Specializing in locally adapted heirloom and open-pollinated seeds. Through regenerative growing practices, workshops, plant sales, and partnerships with local organizations like Tucson Organic Gardeners, Nicci shares her passion for sustainable gardening and seed stewardship while encouraging a deeper connection to the desert environment. Nicci is also our amazing Horticultural Therapy Assistant at Tucson Botanical Gardens.

Refund & Cancellation Policy

No refund will be issued less than 15 days prior to any Community Class. A $10 cancellation fee will be applied to all refunds. No refunds will be issued for special events. We reserve the right to cancel Community Classes due to insufficient registration, garden closure, or inclement weather, in which case, participants will receive a full refund. People with disabilities should make requests for accommodation as early as possible to allow time to make appropriate arrangements.
