Desert Redux
Encaustics & Ceramics by Suzanne Ellenbogen
Desert Redux is an exhibit of clay sculptures and encaustic paintings by Suzanne Ellenbogen. The artist first visited the Sonoran Desert nearly 50 years ago and was smitten.
“My inspiration for Desert Redux is, simply, the desert; my longing to be back in the desert after a short interlude in Colorado.” She is returning with “a world full of desert creatures, where bees and flowers buzz around honeycombs made with encaustic wax. Rattlesnakes coil around their friends, hummingbirds fly in my head, and Gila monsters surf.”
