Cool Weather Crops: Gardening 101

When most of the country is packing up their garden supplies for the season we are just getting started here in the desert in one of our favorite growing seasons! Fall is a special time to garden in Tucson where we can grow all the cooler weather crops with ease. Learn which edible and native crops do best in cool climates and how and when to get them all started. Participants will get to plant and take home their own seed tray with instructions to care for their seedlings at home.

Nicci Radhe
Nicci Radhe is a Tucson-based photographer, horticulturist, and multidisciplinary artist whose work is deeply rooted in community, art, and the Sonoran Desert landscape. Nicci is also the founder of Horny Toad Horticulture, an organic small-scale urban seed farm located near Sentinel Peak in Tucson. Specializing in locally adapted heirloom and open-pollinated seeds. Through regenerative growing practices, workshops, plant sales, and partnerships with local organizations like Tucson Organic Gardeners, Nicci shares her passion for sustainable gardening and seed stewardship while encouraging a deeper connection to the desert environment. Nicci is also our amazing Horticultural Therapy Assistant at Tucson Botanical Gardens.
Refund & Cancellation Policy
No refund will be issued less than 15 days prior to any Community Class. A $10 cancellation fee will be applied to all refunds. No refunds will be issued for special events. We reserve the right to cancel Community Classes due to insufficient registration, garden closure, or inclement weather, in which case, participants will receive a full refund. People with disabilities should make requests for accommodation as early as possible to allow time to make appropriate arrangements.
