Frida Kahlo often challenged societal expectations, even with her wardrobe.  Using real examples of indigenous garments, this presentation will offer a brief history of the artist and then illuminate her controversial use of indigenous clothing when appearing in public. Gayle Castañeda, creator of The Castañeda Museum of Ethnic Costume, Inc., exhibits and preserves folk and ethnic textiles, dolls, and masks.
