Owls: Rulers of the Night Skies

Owls are among the world’s most familiar and secretive birds. They are revered in some cultures and feared in others.  Denizens of darkness and shrouded in mystery.  In this class we explore the world of these nocturnal hunters and talk about how to identify owls in the field.  We will also discuss good locations to find owls and the ethics of owling.

Jeff Babson

Jeff Babson is an all-around naturalist, with particular interest in birds, butterflies, moths, beetles and dragonflies.  Owner of Sky Island Tours, an environmental education and eco-tour company, Jeff has led birding tours for the Tucson Botanical Gardens, Pima County Department of Natural Resources, Parks and Recreation, Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, and several birding festivals in southern Arizona (Wings over Willcox, Southwest Wings, Tucson Birding and Nature Festival).  He lives in Vail with his wife and two children.
