Great Cacti for Southwestern Desert Landscapes
Landscaping in the desert Southwest can be a challenge if you are not familiar with the conditions and/or the plants that survive here. If you have ever hiked in the desert around Tucson, you will notice that cacti grow alongside trees, shrubs, and perennials resulting in a “complete” landscape. Greg is not terribly fond of using only cacti in a sterile looking cactus garden but utilizing them as part of the total package. Greg will discuss and show pictures of some cacti that are tough, reliable performers here in the desert Southwest and that play nicely with “leafy” plants for that natural landscape. He will touch on planting techniques and subsequent care of these beauties. Learn which ones will add color to your landscape, whether with seasonal flowers or colorful spines, or even both, cacti can be used as the backbone of a xeriscape.Sign up for this class
