Drawing Birds – 1 to 4 p.m.

The Sonoran Desert is rich in unique birdlife. Here, birds have adapted to intense heat and long droughts. Some scurry mouse-like along shaded ground, others make their homes in saguaro holes, and still others build their abodes hidden among cactus spines. Join The Drawing Studio’s Saraiya Kanning for an introduction to drawing birds. Participants will take a guided bird walk through the garden, returning to the classroom to draw birds in pencil and ink with help from photo references. Learn basic bird anatomy and get tips on how to observe these fast-moving, sometimes elusive animals.
