SUMMARY:Painted Flower Bracelet Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Yume Japanese Gardens\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister Here\n\n\n\n\n$50 Non-Member / $40 Member \n\n\n\n\nClass Capacity 15 \n\n\n\n\n\nMake a fun\, colorful bracelet with a lamp-worked focal bead that has a hand painted flower on it. The color combination is sure to add an interesting accent to your wardrobe. All materials and tools will be provided by the artist and no experience is necessary. Each bracelet will be sized to fit the participant and each participant will leave with a finished piece.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nInstructor \n\n\n\nDee Taube\n\n\n\n\n\nI have always loved art\, so while growing up I took all the art classes that were offered in school. I was drawn to art beyond being content to just appreciate it\, but during my working career making time for art seemed a luxury to be put on hold for the future. Somehow I found jewelry making and fell in love with it. It enabled me to work with color\, design\, and texture\, it was a great stress-reliever\, an outlet for my creativity\, and it nurtured my soul. When I became a member of an artists’ co-op in Colorado Springs\, I was constantly admiring the work created by the glass artists there\, and one day one of them offered to teach me how to fuse glass. I was hooked. Creating fused glass art has taught me to appreciate all art even more than I did before. It is always a learning experience. But when everything goes right\, the end result brings me joy and nurtures my soul\, as I always hope it will for those who see my art. Learning\, enjoying and creating art is an ongoing journey. Each new piece guides its own design and helps me grow as an artist. I love it! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRefund & Cancellation Policy\n\n\n\nNo refund will be issued less than 15 days prior to any Community Class. SUMMARY:Desert Container Gardening: Plan for 365 Days of Living Color
DESCRIPTION:Yume Japanese Gardens\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister Here\n\n\n\n\n$36 Non-Member / $29 Member \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nDesert container gardening is not the same as gardening anywhere else. Our summers are longer and hotter\, our winters can bring sudden cold snaps\, and plants in pots need a smarter plan to thrive. \n\n\n\nBe inspired to do something different and expand your vision\, imagination\, and enjoyment of seeing beautiful plants in a container that thrive in your desert home. \n\n\n\n\nDetermine the correct plants to combine in a pot for the upcoming season so that the display makes sense and is pleasing to the eye. \n\n\n\nKnow the correct location to place your pots so they will do their best. \n\n\n\nChoose your color theme and learn how to make it happen.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nInstructor \n\n\n\nMarylee Pangman\n\n\n\n\n\nMarylee Pangman founded The Contained Gardener in 1998 as a niche business in the desert community of Tucson\, Arizona.  Since then\, Marylee has been compelled to share all that she has learned about container gardening over 3 decades of blistering summers and record breaking winters. Marylee sees container gardening as a way to have an oasis garden while conserving water as the demands of pots are far less than heavily planted areas and beds. You can find Marylee’s books\, Getting Potted in the Desert\, and Riley’s Garden Oasis at the Garden Gift Shop. These two books are excellent resources for creating and caring for potted gardens\, advice on container selection\, plant lists and much more. https://thepotteddesert.com \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRefund & Cancellation Policy\n\n\n\nNo refund will be issued less than 15 days prior to any Community Class. When her new husband chose going to war over starting life together\, Ellie is left with a decaying hardware store and a pile of debt. Her choice: return to a dead-end future in the New York City tenements or reinvent the store into the Home and Garden Emporium. She’s desperate for customers\, so when the government urges citizens to grow Liberty Gardens to add more vegetables to their diets\, Ellie sees a marketing opportunity. She can help women learn to garden so they will need her rakes and shovels. It all happens with a roster of eclectic women neighbors and one handsome bachelor. \n\n\n\nAdvance review from Midwest Review:  \n\n\n\n “The Home and Garden Emporium” is the kind of novel that will linger in the mind and memory of the reader long after the book has been finished and set back upon the shelf.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAuthor \n\n\n\nCarolyn Niethammer\n\n\n\n\n\nCarolyn Niethammer has been writing about the food and people of the Southwest for six decades in books and newspaper and magazine articles. Four of her eleven books are cookbooks\, three are books about Native American women\, one is a travel book\, and one of her three novels features a famous cook from Arizona history. Her work has been translated into German\, French\, and Korean. Her latest nonfiction “A Desert Feast: Celebrating Tucson’s Culinary History\,” is a look at Southern Arizona’s food history over the last 8\,000 years and is an answer to why Tucson was named the country’s first UNESCO City of Gastronomy. She recently received the 2025 Jim Griffith Foodways Keeper Award. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nUpcoming Classes\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n\n \n Classes\, Art \n Butterfly Sketch and Watercolor Study: A 4-Part Series \n September 8 @ 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm \n\n	\n\n\n\n\n \n \n\n \n Family \n Garden Story Time \n September 9 @ 10:00 am – 11:00 am \n\n	\n\n\n\n\n \n \n\n \n Classes\, Gardening \n Seed Starting 101 \n September 11 @ 9:00 am – 11:00 am \n\n	\n\n\n\n\n \n \n\n \n Classes\, Nature & Ecology \n Dragonflies and Damselflies \n September 11 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

These brightly colored and richly patterned sculptures depict imaginary hybrid animals that act as both spirit guides and astrological embodiments of human character. We will use potatoes and paper clips to create our own symbols and print them into designs on cardstock. This free workshop is designed for third through fifth graders with their adults. \n\n\n\nRegistration & Garden Admission are required\, and we are capped at 15 youth participants. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRefund & Cancellation Policy\n\n\n\nNo refund will be issued less than 15 days prior to any Community Class. SUMMARY:Desert Container Gardening: Stun Your Neighbors with Bold Winter Pots
DESCRIPTION:Yume Japanese Gardens\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister Here\n\n\n\n\n$36 Non-Member / $29 Member \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nMove beyond the usual flowers in a pot and learn how to create winter containers with more height\, texture\, contrast\, and personality. This class is for gardeners who want fresh ideas\, bolder plant combinations\, and a more interesting look for their desert pots. Marylee will share ways to use familiar and less expected plants together\, so your winter containers feel fuller\, stronger\, and more distinctive all season. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nInstructor \n\n\n\nMarylee Pangman\n\n\n\n\n\nMarylee Pangman founded The Contained Gardener in 1998 as a niche business in the desert community of Tucson\, Arizona.
